CONTINUING TO SERVE

In our brief history, we have been able to respond to the needs of the community during the Covid-19 outbreak by delivering and serving coffee to the officers and nurses working at Covid-19 testing sites in Atlanta. While this may have been a small act of service, it carried a strong positive spirit and encouragement to those on the frontlines fighting the battle against the virus.

Additionally, we have been able to help sponsor a combat veteran to participate in a moose hunt in Maine. This trip embodied our vision to Live Beyond ability, circumstances, and health by providing an outdoor opportunity for personal, professional, physical growth. This particular veteran was a double above-the-knee amputee, limiting his ability to hike deep into the woods and wetlands the moose live in. During the week the weather presented additional difficult circumstances through 40+ mph winds, warm temperatures, and pouring rain. Determined not to succumb to our adversity we pushed through and we were able to successfully harvest a moose on the last day of the hunt. However, the true success of the trip was battling the elements, overcoming our circumstances by carrying the veteran through the thick wilderness, and the transcendence of connecting with nature. The trip forged great camaraderie around the hunt, the campfire, and meals shared together. It was truly a transforming experience for combat veterans to build stronger community ties and relationships
